History of NHL

National Health Laboratory was established in 1st October, 1963. It was situated at No. 35, Hmaw Kun Daik Street, Dagon Township, Yangon.
It was formed by Amalgamation of Five Institutional Labs namely,

  • Pasteur Institute of Union of Myanmar (Burma). 
  • Harcourt Butler Institute.

  • Journal reading/Paper reading/Sharing of work experiences by local laboratory personnel.
  • Bloc posting for M.Med.Sc.(Microbiology,Pathology & Medical Lab Technologist),
  • Repair of laboratory equipment
  • Sharing of laboratory animals to needed department.
  • Intersectoral coordination activities with other related departments.
  • Participation in various action committees for respective objectives and purposes.
